Recently appointed to the Florida Real Estate Commission FREC, Dick is a Realtor who has participated in a wide variety of activities in the real estate industry since graduating with a MBA in Management in 1971 from Florida State University (FSU). He teaches Core Law, Ethics, ABR, SRES, and other REBAC courses at REALTOR® Associations around the state. Dick received the 2002 Florida Association of REALTORS® (FAR) ‘Educator of the Year’ Award, the 2003 ‘REALTOR® of the Year’ Award from the Orlando Regional REALTOR® Association, was named to the Real Estate Buyers Agent Council (REBAC) Hall of Fame in 2005, and is an expert witness who has testified for the Department of Business and Professional Regulations (DBPR) and in civil cases in Florida. Dick served as President of the Real Estate Educators Association (REEA), an international trade association for real estate educators, in 2002.
He also serves as a Director for Florida Association of REALTORS® (FAR), the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR), and has been a continuing education speaker for the Florida Real Estate Commission (FREC) instructor Continuing Education course. Dick is on the Real Estate Buyers Agent Council (REBAC) National Advisory Council and the National Advisory Council for RealtyU, a national consortium of private real estate educational organizations. He has managed both large and small real estate firms in his career and currently owns and operates a small boutique residential firm with his wife, Judy. Dick has taught real estate related courses since 1978 and has personally instructed tens of thousands of students over the past 29 years. In 1983, he and his wife opened the Institute of Florida Real Estate Careers, Inc. (IFREC), a full service real estate education facility. IFREC has grown to become Central Florida’s largest privately owned real estate school and the only Florida real estate school to have fulfilled the requirements to receive national accreditation from the Council on Certification and Accreditation (COCA) as an accredited real estate education organization. In April 2003, IFREC added Kambuck Resources Mortgage Brokerage School (the most successful mortgage brokerage licensing school in Florida) to the IFREC family of businesses.
During his career, Dick has served in every officer position at Orlando Regional REALTOR® Association, including President in 2001 and currently serves as Chairman of the Florida Association REALTORS® (FAR) Professional Development Committee. He has served as Region XII Vice President for Florida Association of REALTORS® (FAR), participated on the 2001 Ch.475 PAG and the 2002 Ch.475 Modernization Task Force for FAR.
Dick and his wife Judy have an extended family of 7 children and 13 grandchildren and have resided in the Orlando area since the early 70’s. They enjoy taking their grandchildren to their condo in New Smyrna Beach and on vacations in the summer months. Dick is also an active Rotarian in the Rotary Club of Orlando; has served as president of other civic organizations in the past and is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Easter Seals of Florida, Central Florida Region.
